Faculty and staff can request sessions tailored to their program’s needs, available in 30, 60, or 90-minute formats. Career Development Workshops offered by the Office of Graduate Studies
In this workshop, students will learn how to use Individual Development Plans tools like ImaginePhD, AAAS IDP, and ChemIDP to assess their values, skills, and interests. The session emphasizes the importance of self-assessment in career planning and introduces tools that can help uncover new career paths and professional possibilities. Participants will leave with a clearer sense of direction and practical resources for ongoing career exploration. This Workshop includes anactivity where all studnets will need time to do the assesments in order to find tailored resources they can continue to use beyond the workshop.

It covers the use of generative AI tools like Copilot, ChatGPT, and Gemini for writing assistance, interview practice, and career exploration. The workshop emphasizes using AI as a coaching tool rather than for mass applications. Attendees will also explore AI's limitations and common mistakes.

The session covers essential formatting guidelines, common content areas, and strategies for effectively presenting skills, experience, and accomplishments. The session emphasizes how to translate academic experience into language that resonates with employers, integrate keywords from job descriptions, and showcase accomplishments using quantifiable outcomes. Academic Success Workshops offered by the Office of Graduate Studies
The Office of Graduate Studies in partnership with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships can provide an info session on the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). This includes information on the eligibility criteria, application process, an overview the application elements and tips/best practices in the creation of those elements, as well as suggested timelines managing the application and submission process.

This workshop also address key skills and elements for effective collaborations, mentoring as related to team science and research, and tools and resources for students to further explore to support their professional development and ability to effectively lead teams.
In this visual and interactive workshop, students will learn how to use bullet journaling as a flexible method to organize their academic and personal lives. The session will explore key journal sections and demonstrate how bullet journaling can support tasks like managing a thesis or dissertation, tracking grading, planning classes, and maintaining work-life balance. Students will also see real examples and creative ideas to inspire their own journal setups.

There is also a focus on setting and aligning their needs and expectations to mentors and advisors, communication strategies to support mentoring relationships, using IDPs to manage their academic and professional development, and skills that can support resiliency in graduate school.
