KU Student Rec Center

The Ambler Student Rec Center is open to all of you and provides a variety of resources for physical fitness, team and individual sports, classes, and personal training. The cutting edge indoor and outdoor facilities accommodate a broad range of athleticism - from beginners looking to improve your health with low impact exercise, to seasoned athletes aspiring to push their physical abilities to the next level. If you are a student you are automatically a member of the Rec Center! Be sure to check out all of the services, Fit Group classes, intramural sports, and outdoor equipment rental!

Intramural Sports

The Intramural Sports program offers opportunities to actively participate in sports by providing an arena in which participants can compete against one another in a safe, friendly environment. It is our goal to provide at least one activity that appeals to every participant (a sport for everyone and everyone in a sport).

Outdoor Pursuits

The Outdoor Pursuits program offers two levels of equipment rental for hiking, camping, and canoeing. At the bottom of the stairs, you may access the Chalk Rock to the right or our Rental Office to the left. The Outdoor Pursuits program includes outdoor equipment rentals, indoor rock climbing, and team building opportunities.

Lawrence Parks and Rec Services

Lawrence has a very active parks and recreation program for both youth and adult sports. There are also 3 community rec centers across the city that are free to Douglas County residents. Rock Chalk Park is the largest and includes indoor courts, a running track, exercise equipment and outdoor running and biking paths. Learn more at the Parks and Rec home page.
