KU Card, KUID, and KU Online ID
KU Card
The official university identification card for students, faculty, and staff. The KU Card provides access to university facilities, services, cash convenience, and more. You must also show your KU Card, also referred to as your KU ID, to ride the Lawrence Transit System when you are off campus. For more information about card uses, features, and obtaining your card visit the KU Card Center website.
KUID Number
Also called your KU Student ID number, this is a unique 7-digit number that can be found on your admission letter. It is also included on your KU Card. If you no longer have your admission letter, you can access your KUID number by logging into your application account to view your letter under Checklist->Decision Letter, by visiting the Academics tab in myKU, or by contacting your graduate support staff.
KU Online ID
This is different than your KUID number, but you will need your KUID number to set up your KU Online ID. Your KU Online ID is a user name and password to access your email, KU Advising Portal (myKU), Blackboard, Canvas, and the online system that we use for enrollment and bill pay (Enroll & Pay). You can set up your KU Online ID at the MyIdentity Services website.
Updating Preferred Name @ KU
Students have the option to use a name other than their legal (primary) name to identify themselves. The University of Kansas will use that preferred name wherever possible unless the usage of the legal name is mandated. The preferred name will be sent to Blackboard* and will be listed on class and grade rosters, among other processes. Log onto Enroll and Pay and select the Personal Details Tile. For more detailed instructions visit the KU Registrar's page on updating your personal information.
