This session introduces participants to practical ways AI tools can support and streamline the job search, from exploring career paths to preparing application materials. Attendees will learn how generative technologies can help them clarify their interests, identify roles that align with their strengths, and craft polished résumés, cover letters, and interview responses.

- Apply AI effectively to enhance job search materials while maintaining authenticity
- Recognize common pitfalls and ethical considerations when using AI in the application process

This session introduces participants to practical time management techniques. Attendees will learn how time management, through techniques such as time blocking and prioritization, can maximize their academic success and professional growth.
By the end of this workshop, students will:
- Engage with different time management tools to identify techniques that apply to their own academic, professional, and personal goals
- Learn the ways that bullet journaling can be individualized and applied to a variety of academic and professional tasks

This session introduces participants to the concept of psychological resilience and its role in adapting to adversity and thriving afterward and explores how it can support their academic, professional, or personal success. Attendees will engage with interactive exercises such as unusual gratitude practices, diaphragmatic breathing, and self-compassion techniques, along with discussions on psychological, physical, and emotional resilience to build confidence and practical strategies they can apply immediately.

This session introduces participants to reflecting on and articulating their teaching approach and explores how these reflections can enhance their current teaching practice while preparing them for the academic job market. Attendees will engage with guided reflection prompts, examples of effective teaching statements, and structured discussions to identify their teaching values, evidence of impact on student learning, and strategies to communicate these effectively.

- Reflect on meaningful teaching experiences and recognize their impact on student learning.
- Translate these reflections into concrete examples that can strengthen a teaching statement.
- Identify one actionable step to improve their teaching approach now and/or develop their statement for future academic opportunities.

This session introduces participants to basic grant budgeting and explores how it can support their academic, professional, or personal success. Attendees will engage with Pivot, Excel, and other grants databases to build confidence and practical strategies they can apply immediately.

- Understand grant budgeting terminology and how it applies to available graduate student and post-doctoral awards.
- Have a basic knowledge of cost estimation, allocation, and justification for grant writing and financial planning.
- Have thought through the scope of their research projects, required materials, personnel, and timelines to align funding with research plans.

This session explores how interviews are a technique to be learned and experienced. As a result, attendees will experience how and why interviews should be prepared for in order to improve their job search success. By understanding the variety in type of interviews, importance of preparation and research, and tips/techniques to craft thoughtful interview responses, attendees will strengthen their job search skills.

- Review the variety of interview types and expectations typically associated with those interview processes
- Learn techniques and skills on how to prepare for interviews
- Apply the STAR Method to frame and enhance interview responses
Project Management Tools for Managing Research Projects | Click here to register
This session introduces participants to project‑management tools that can help organize, track, and streamline complex research workflows for thesis, dissertation, and other large-scale research projects. Attendees will explore strategies for breaking down large projects, coordinating timelines, and using technology to stay focused, efficient, and adaptable throughout the research process.

- Identify project‑management tools that support planning, tracking, collaboration and communication for thesis and dissertation projects as well as other large-scale research projects
- Apply strategies for structuring research tasks, milestones, and timelines and avoid scope creep
- Use digital tools to monitor progress and adjust plans as their projects evolve including gantt charts and other progress trackers
- Strengthen their ability to manage long‑term academic projects with clarity and confidence
International Student Job Search Support Drop‑In Hours | Click here to register
This relaxed, networking‑style event offers international graduate students a welcoming space to ask questions, explore job search strategies, and connect with campus partners who support their career development. Representatives will be available for informal conversations, quick résumé/CV and cover‑letter reviews, and demonstrations of tools like Interstride to help students navigate U.S. job search expectations with confidence.
